Thanks so much for help! Sounds like a toss up between LR and Elements. Question: Can you catalog/create folders in Elements?
(For my own work, I’ve been using PS, Bridge, LR and Luminar - but not Elements)
Elements used to come with Photoshop Organizer, which offers tagging, keywords, and other organizational features. but I'm not sure of the current version. I would expect that they wouldn't drop it.

Nothing more basic than dad setting up LR so that it uses an import preset that uses the Auto Adjust function to automatically set all of the image adjustment sliders to individually optimize each image. It really doesn't get any easier. Andy's suggestion was spot on and nothing out there can do this with equally good results. From there it is a simple matter to fine tune a very small set of controls - and see the results. Very easy.
Dad can deal with the image management stuff for her, which does require some investment of brain power to master.
Huh?
Kindergarten,
MacBook Pro,
Canon Rebel XSi,
And Lightroom, etc...
What am I missing?

The kid is obviously precocious. If she can manage, why not? If it's all too much, then dad will figure out he has to back off the throttle.
I am sure mastery is neither the expectation nor the goal. And if you use the camera and Lightroom in full auto mode it should be no big deal. I look forward to showing my granddaughter how to use a camera and software when she is 5 or 6 - if she is interested.

You might wipe off your monitor and read the original post again, slowly ...

A-Ha!
I am clearly a fool for misplaced apostrophes, although that was not the only reason for my misunderstanding.

Yes. Gramps can set her up, and show her how to play with sliders and change her images. It’s never too young to start if you have a wise teacher who can gradually expand your horizons.
I was actively taking photos when I was six, and wishing I could do more than take them to the drugstore for processing. I know seven year olds with very high computer skills in limited areas. Technology is a basic skill these days, and some kids develop skills very precociously. I have an eight year old grandson who can edit and play with “Paint” images better than I.

Thank very much for the input! It sounds like PSE might be a good place to start and if it proves too complicated, maybe drop back to Picass. Kind of depends on how much time my daughter can commit to learning how to navigate the prigram.
Best to all.

I'm surprised no one suggested Picasa. Simple editing!
I agree - Picasa would do the trick. Do you know a trusted site to obtain for Mac and Windows?
Here is on site I found (but one needs to download into a virtual box - to check)
https://picasa.en.uptodown.com/windowsMy understanding once Google Photos came to town Picasa disappeared from Google.

You need something dead easy so I suggest you try Google Photos, it is FREE, has a basic but very good editor and it's easy to create albums and share them with who you want.
There is always hope that some of the UHH members have a Windows and/or Mac downloaded file(s) in their archived download folder that can be shared - since it was free originally. Just sayin'.
