If they allow photography, your biggest issue is going to be white balance, because of the lighting that they use you’ll have to look at a few and be very aware of the color of the lighting that they use and adjust your camera to meet what they are providing to get the best shots

I saw the Chihuly exhibit awhile ago at the New York Botanical Gardens, half of the pieces were indoors and half outdoors. There were no restrictions that I was made aware of but am sure it varies from exhibit to exhibit. I saw it in the daytime, such an amazing exhibit it™ is hard to take a bad picture!

Sorry, just assumed it was all inside. I think it was a room in Las Vegas, where the entire ceiling was that type of glass. Very hard to photograph and have it come out good.

I shot the exhibit at New York Botanical Garden last year. There were no restrictions at any of the installations. I'd suggest an 18-135 on your 80D

I have been to the Biltmore several times over the years but never to the roof top. Great picture.

I believe that most of the Biltmore exhibit is outdoors with no restrictions. I will use my 50mm prime and my 24-105mm. I also have a Tamron 180 Macro that I may play with. I think that this is going to be a fun 2 days.
As many times as I have been to Asheville over the years I have never been to the NC Arboretum. May try to work in a little time there but might have to save that for another trip. And then there are the FEI World Equestrian Games going on at the same time in Tryon, NC and we will be driving right by there. Too much to see and do and so little time! Western NC has so much to offer.

Take a wide angle lense....was there a couple months ago with 5D MkIII and a 24-105 kit lense. I got most of the shots I wanted.. But Wished I had a wider angle lense for some of the shots, mainly for the reason of the hundreds of people that would walk into the shot and in front of me while shooting... even during the day time...

I have seen Chihuly many times and I would be more concerned about the restriction that Chihuly puts on the exhibit. You definitely cannot put your final product up for sale. Personal enjoyment only.

I have photographed the exterior and grounds of The Biltmore Estate on two occasions several years ago but I respected their rule about "no pictures in the home". I carried my Nikon D300 openly in the house and was never accosted by the security folks about having it physically in the home. I imagine if I raised the camera to my eye, I would have gotten some attention, however.
The rules posted in this thread are more liberal than as I recall them during my visits.

I photographed the Chiluly exhibits at the Palm Springs Museum of Art on several occasions inside and outside the Museum. There were no restrictions.

When they were at the Dallas Arboretum, there were absolutely NO RESTRICTIONS, as everything was displayed outdoors.

The rules are very misleading, was told at checkin that photographs were permitted. Once inside was immediately stopped from taking pictures. Told the person that stopped me that I was told at checkin that I could take pictures. He then replied that photography was strictly prohibited inside but could take all the pictures that I wanted to take outside. So I am not sure what the rules really are as I saw other people taking pictures inside and were not stopped.
