Thanks so much, Corky.... as many times as I watch that video, it still amazes me!!! So glad to hear you have a nice variety of butter fluttering around your garden... if the heat agrees with them, they're in for a treat the next few days!! It's going to be hot!!!
Corky, I sent Ellen a message through fb messenger.... I don't know if she has it or not, but I wanted you to know that our friend Phil is at peace now and I know he is flying around his garden in no pain.

Take care and stay cool!!!
Thanks so much, Corky.... as many times as I watc... (show quote)

So sorry, Angela and one day while I was talking on the phone with Phil about sources of mealworms for the Bluebirds and jelly for the Orioles a beautiful Oriole landed on our dogwood tree and started feeding. He very much wanted one to pay them a visit and I was so happy for him when I believe the next season one paid them a visit and stuck around for some time. I talked to him on the phone a few times along with some great conversations on the hog and will really miss conversing with him! He was a really nice person and feel very sorry for his family! Ellen had not seen your message today, but she had been on just a little today as we have been potting some flowers that we should have done weeks ago and then spent several hours attempting to catch several little lizards that had decided to set up home in the sunroom. I was finally able to escort one out, but at least two others are still on the loose!! By the time I found time to water the flowers a number had wilted but they recovered by late afternoon. I did take a time out to grab a few shots of a Greater Fritillary and was the first one that I've seen since the Spring in which we planted the perennial garden and think that I posted that one, as it's a very very beautiful butterfly! I think if we can endure one more very hot day that we should have some relief Friday, and earlier heard as I was watching the Nationals, Phillies game that the temperature in Philly today was 97 degrees! Take care and the Hycianth bean vine on the deck has reached our hanging fern basket under the overhang and is still going up!! Take care and hope that all of us have a cooler weekend!

Hi Everyone.... just thought I'd give an update on my Monarch family!!
To date, I have released #27 with 6 in chrysalis just waiting to emerge, 1in J-Hook and lots of little ones still running around and I'm still finding eggs on the plants outside... unless I accidentally bring one in on the leaves, the rest will have to fend for themselves .... I have about 12 eggs in the incubator!!!
With all that, I did have 8 deaths....

This has been an exceptional year for the Monarchs in my garden and on Long Island!!

I also want to let you know I have lots of SwampMilkweed seeds if anyone wants.... I will gladly mail them out, just send me a PM with your address!!
Plant them and they will come!!!

Awww... thanks, Mike.... I miss you as well. One day I might be back, when they add more hours to a day or I'm not so busy.
Take care, my friend and glad you liked this shot!! As of this morning, 10 in chrysalis and a ton of cats still running around!

Hi Corky... I knew you'd want to know. I've been thinking of him lately and had noticed he wasn't posting on facebook, so I went to his page and read his daughters post.... I started crying. It's amazing how strong a bond you get with people with the same interests... like photography, gardening and of course animals. I will miss him dearly.

Today will be another hot one, but they say the temps will drop and we might get some rain tomorrow. This has been a fast summer, but I can't complain, my garden this year did great... as did the Monarchs!!
Hope you find those other two lizards soon, so they can go outside where they belong! lol.....
Glad to hear the bean vine is doing great... so is mine! I'm seeing the pods now but they still have a long way to go before I can harvest them... and then share the seeds!

Take care and enjoy the end of August!!!

I wish I would see some Orioles or Bluebirds... but I will always remember Phil for his love of nature and his fur-babies....

Oh my, you didn't find the lizards yet!! How is Ellen when she sees them, I would love to see them in my garden.... but not show up in my bed!!LOL...
No rain here, but they are saying maybe tonight and tomorrow. 20 degree drop in temps today... If it stayed in the 70's all year, I'd be a happy camper!!

Enjoy the weekend and I'm thrilled I get Monday off and don't have to watch the boys!!!

#28 & 29 emerged this morning with 13 in chrysalis and still a lot more to do their thing!!!

Take care...
