For my brother Keith who died in Nam rescuing POW's from a Death Camp in North Vietnam. He would agree with you if he was alive today.

Some good ones here. 20 years in Air Force, with a year in Vietnam and a total of 9 years overseas for me.

Well said. There's another one from "back in the day" - Artillery is the King of battle and puts the balls where the Queen wants them.

Don't hang around with any Canadian troops (or others) do you? (If I have misread your post - sorry.)
Between my son, brother and myself we have interacted with troops from South Korea, South Vietnam (when it existed), New Zealand, Australia, Germany, Iraqi (actually the Kurds mostly), Kuwait, Japan, Singapore, Thailand and a few others I forget at the moment. My son's unit cross trained some Canadian troops on US gear then they flew together in US and Australian C-17 transports to Australia where they jumped over an Australian Air Base as the aggressors in a large multi nation wargame.
They all pretty much have the same attitude and way of thinking with modifications for their culture.
Very confident, aggressive, convinced they are the best in the world and a poor view of the powers that be for the most part.
Also they tend towards the type of humor known by multiple names: black humor, gallows humor = grim and ironic often with a large dose of bravado
As we said when I was serving "You either make a joke of it or break down crying and go crazy." I'll take making it a sick, grime joke. That way I came home, not back to a mental hospital.

Wonderful! America's true hero's wear dogtags.

Two comments: first of all, I caught hell here on UHH a few days ago for making a comment about the mis-use of dog tags. Glad to hear that someone else understands the symbolism and purpose. Second: every time I hear or see something about Canada I'm reminded that they harbored our draft dodgers and deserters.
