I own 2 Sony A-6000's and I love them. (The second one was a Craigs List orphan and ridiculously cheap so I bought a back-up.)
Anyhow, Tech Mafia showed a video on a A-6000 lens mount replacement ring that is all metal instead of the original combination metal and plastic. (The A-6300 and A-6500 went to a solid ring.) However, the replacement ring shown in the video was US $50!
The benefit claimed is elimination of a very slight slop in the mating between lens and camera.
I found one on eBay from Neweer for $10 and bought it. It arrived today. It is beautiful! And it came with extra screws and and a very good little screwdriver as well and easily followed instructions.
It went on very easily and when I mount lenses they snap right in - and NO slop. So I do recommend this item. I have no financial interest in this nor do I know anyone involved.
It is also said to be compatible with A7/A7R/A7S/A7II/A6000/A5100/A5000/NEX-3/NEX-5/NEX-3C/NEX-5N/ NEX-7/NEX-F3/NEX-5R/NEX-6/NEX-VG10/NEX-VG20/NEX-VG30/NEX-VG900/NEX-FS100/NEX-FS700/NEX-EA50

Whilst on the subject of accessories for the Sony A-6000 here is another - a Hot Shoe Cover Cap For Sony Alpha A6000 A5000 CANON NIKON CL. These are sold in packets of 5 from a Chinese seller on eBay. They are cheap little pieces of plastic but nicely fit the hot shoe and thus protect the hot shoe contacts when the hot shoe is not in use. They also remove very easily. I believe Sony supplies there for the A6300 and A6500 but not the A-6000.
Anyhow I have them on both of my cameras and am glad to have them. For US 99 cents for the packet of 5, you can't go wrong. I will note they take about 6 weeks to arrive.

4 out of the 5 reviews for the Newer mount ring on Amazon say that Sony lenses won't fit - too tight - can't get the lens off. Some reviews said that it works fine with some of the adapters and third party lenses. The last negative review was Jan 2018. Maybe they have improved since then. The Fotodiox ring seems to get better and more plentiful reviews - but it is $50 +/-
I have no experience with either, but I was interested based on your post above. Think I will give it a pass.
Thanks for your comments. I did try my camera with a Sony 18-135 OSS lens and it was fine. If I have other issues I will report back. I will say that the modification would be extremely simple to reverse - as long as you can get the lens off!
Cheers
Bob
A further test - a recent 85mm f1.8 Sony lens - fits fine - and comes off easily!
