Went to see a game. Vintage Base Ball, 1886 rules, and equipment. Only safety item allowed were that the catchers' mitt was 1930's vintage because the old mitts were a bit too dangerous.

Is that the homeplate umpire in #2? What a fun idea, but I can't help but think about today's batting helmets, many of which now include the face guard on the side. Maybe the pitchers at this event weren't throwing 90 - 98 mph?
Yes, that is the ump. The bases were not fixed, so they were movable.
Very nice set.... you can see the ball and bat making contact, the the ball just inside third base line.

Nice, but those modern cars somehow alter the feel. I greatly prefer the color. Love those.
