I just thought of something. Should we post question which we already know the answer? like this thread.

Sometimes it's the best way to make the point. I'm waiting for "Is gravity real?"

If it isn't it's the second time an apple has gotten us in trouble...

Oh I see Andy! I generally do not want to make a point. I would chime in to others either to agree with their point or disagree but generally wouldn't start a thread to make a point. If I would then I would start too many threads.

Ha! You mean you ask honest questions, open to differing opinions? How 20th century of you.

It sometimes works best if you are in mythbusting mode. Since "change the focal length to change the perspective..." is such I prevalent myth, I understand why this thread opened this way.

This is fact, however, not opinion, so I'm not sure it really served its purpose. ArtlessBob's thread just stated an untruth as principle, and as he has simply banned anyone who disagreed with his untruth, he may, in the end, have been more effective than Scotty!

Sorry, Scott.... We seem to be living in the era when repeating the "big lie" as fact is accepted by many...

No Andy I mean for example I know that perspective is purely a function of distance from lens to subject but I wouldn't start a thread saying so. But if Scotty or Bob started and I would post my thought and response. I meant that I have a lot of things to I say if I say it would make people argue to death but I just would start a thread saying so. But.. if someone start and I disagree often I can't keep myself from saying it's otherwise.

Yes. And artlessBob has simply banned anyone who points out his factual inaccuracies from posting in his thread on this topic. I do note that your thread is titled with a question, while his is titled with a non-factual assertion.

As you guessed, I posed it as a question to encourage a healthy examination of perspective. The title of artBob's thread was a warning to anyone who disagreed that he was looking for a fight.

It is worth noting that Linda From Maine has yet to weigh in on the actual subject of this thread. She was willing to challenge CaptainC when he explained the concept but she could not bring herself to recognize that her friend artBob had the wrong end of the stick. However she later shocked artBob by confronting him for using someone else's image without permission. In her mind it's wrong to steal but OK to lie. She also does not object to the use of offensive language so long as she is the one using it, "usually men with an over-inflated sense of their own importance - selfishly ...."

artBob continues to disappear down his logical rabbit hole by insisting that Ansel Adams did not really mean to contradict him. He claims that, “…perspective is a function of camera-to-subject distance” does not mean what it says because it was taken out of context. Really? Another poster got added to his Ignore list.

Finally, Apaflo weighed in to explain that, "Everyone is incorrectly accusing you of actually being all the less nice synonyms.", whatever that means. Nevertheless he goes on to explain something that I pointed out a couple of days ago when I said, "artBob only understands perspective as a sketcher and painter." Will artBob now argue with Apaflo or just Ignore him.

The bane of our digital existence is the "false equivalence", especially on matters of fact. All points of view do not deserve or merit equal time and attention. It's a fairly short trip from "Nazis, good or bad?" to "Gravity, real or imaginary?" YouTube is, of course, the biggest source for "alternative facts" but there are those pushing untruths as facts everywhere, even here...

In the meantime, I'm making some popcorn.

They are dropping like flies over there! Nobody left to respond that has any credibility. It would be funny if there weren't some innocent people who may be far more confused and befuddled after 18 pages of his nonsense.

Could be worse. There might be some evidence that someone believes him.

So far all I have seen are a couple of from people who seem to be verbally challenged.

Everyone else has indicated that he is either nuts, stupid or lying.
