Man, she could sure belt em out!! RESPECT, she earned it! I was a drummer for many, many years, playing in bars before I was legal age, etc. Did some of her songs with several vocalist over the decades.....they were good, but they couldn't touch the Queen!! RIP.
Elvis Presley is coined as the King of Rock n Roll, James Brown is coined as the Godfather of Soul. Michael Jackson the King of Pop, and Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul. None can be debated. IMO. The State of Michigan proclaimed the voice of Aretha Franklin as as a Natural Resource. She's the only singer that I have heard sing every verse of America's National Anthem, "The Star's Spangled Banner." Rest in Peace Aretha. You didn't need Respect, you were Respected. Six decades worth of it. You will be missed. She was also a great arranger of mixing song with piano. She learned to play piano on her own.

It seems all the great ones are gone. The entertainers of today are not too bright. They take sides and let it be known who they vote for and lose half their followers.

Elvis Presley is coined as the King of Rock n Roll... (

I’ll debate just one; the real king of Rock & Roll was Chuck Berry.
