Yesterday Aug. 16, 1977 the "KING" died!

I made this photo of Elvis Presley known to many as the "KING" in The Boston Garden November 11, 1971 I was 23yrs. You can say this photo is historical because it is the only time ever Elvis made a performance in Garden.
The photo was made from the first balcony. Elvis, on stage, turned left and walked towards me. I aimed my Hasselblad 500c and mounted 250mm f5.6 Tele Carl Zeiss lens with mounted Matador 200w/s strobe and made this keeper classic photo!
I was thrilled to see Elvis Presley in person and to be so close. My general addmission ticket cost $10.00 wish I still had the ticket stub! There were hundreds of fans out in the cold trying to get in to a sold out performance! He truly is "THE KING"
A photo note: Hasselblad 500c 120 roll film camera, 250mm f5.6 Carl Zeiss lens, and Matador 200w/s strobe work only in manual operation, no auto anything in making a photographic . . . AP

The Queen died on the same day.
Nice colorful shot. I remember Elvis's death announcement very well. I had just left a convenience store, turned on my newly installed car AM-FM-Cassette radio. Your photo was still in the film era in 1977, so a good shot taken in film was normal, unless you used a Polaroid film camera. Elvis was indeed the King of Rock n Roll. He died on August 16, 1977. Aretha Franklin died on that day too. Strange, two great singers die on the same day. Zeiss lens and a Hasselblad camera, do make an excellent combination.

My Father also died 16 August 1977 just when I didn't think that I could ever feel any worse.

Thank You for responding, Jimmy T! Death is always sad. Yet we humans will get by every time. Just maybe there is a better place to live after death. Your always Jimmy T! AP

Welcome, Richard SM! The whole world was saddened by his death, the "The KING of rock n roll" is dead! I saw Elvis Presley in person only once, I was very impressed and quite thrilled. He is truly the "KING"! John Lennon said: Elvis Presley will never be replaced!
Please, keep in touch Richard. AP
Always My favourite. He WAS the King.
Good shot. I remember the day Elvis died. He was only 42. Way too young. His diet was terrible and he was hopelessly addicted to pills. I was an architectural student finishing up a summer quarter at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Ca. when I heard the news in my car radio. One of my fellow archi friends told me that Elvis' mother died at the same age (42). He never got over her death, nor losing Pricellia.
I loved my Hass 500c. Owned 3 of them before I went all dslr 10 years ago. Ziess lenses are incredible.
