Well, here it is and so far so good. It took a lot of weight off my rig and helped remove much of the front heaviness too. Strobe are ring mounted and can rotate along any position. They can also adjust inward and outward toward the lens to accommodate various distances from the subject. The commander sits in the camera hot-shoe and communicates wirelessly to the strobes.

Additional strobes can be added to the system and controlled separately by designating their groups (four available) and three channels are also available for a variety of configurations.

What attracted me to this model was that the strobes can be taken off the camera and used as you would any remote speedlight for other photographic venues. The commander has a hot-shoe on it as well to fire other flashes so in my case I can have the Nikon SB-800 on-camera and the two strobes mounted to light the subject at different angles. The strobes can receive flash modifiers like any speedlight can. The remote range will fire the strobes 100+ feet away unobstructed.

Mark, Thanks for viewing.

I taped two layers of packing foam over the translucent domes. Underneath the domes are clip-on diffusing lenses so in essence the way I have it set up has three layers of diffusion.

My posts today were taken with it set at iTTL auto setting on the commander and 1/8 power on the strobes (they can go down to 1/124 power) (knowing that power is actually the duration time of the flash and not a dimming of the flash). I don't know if this is the best setting, but I had to start somewhere as a trial. Perhaps someone can give me flash setting advice. I have learned that the LCD display is a poor indication of what the image will look like on the PC and it is intended mostly to check composition and the histogram reveals its exposure.

If need be, there is a option for mini softboxes (look like little baby booties) that can go over them or even 5-inch x 6-inch softboxes which may be great for some applications but maybe not so great hunting through the thicket of weeds that I do for they tend to grab everything including me (darn thorny vines).

Looks good. I’ve gone away from using my multiple flash setup. The only advice I have is to experiment with the many lighting possibilities. These include adjusting the output on the units t create lighting ratios (modeling) moving the second unit around... using as a backlight.

Used creatively these can result in stunning work.

Looks like a great setup and your first photos were terrific. I am eager to see how you like it. I may shortly be in the market for one myself.

Thanks again to all and thanks for using one of the strobes for a backlight or perhaps use my SB-800 as a backlight for the system will trigger it too. Brenda, you are right. Because the strobes are small and they only use two AAA batteries, they are very, very light weight which really helped. I think other flash arrangements would have worked well for me had I not used the Nikon 200mm macro which weights 41.8 oz. (2.6 lbs.) (1185 g) and I ran my flash with ten batteries plus two camera batteries and grip.

Going to the Utility Company power lines right-of-way tomorrow to hunt for insects. Wild and thick swatch of ground that runs the length of the lines for miles on end. If anyone is looking for investment advice, buy stock in Deep Woods Off for I use it daily!
