Would love to hear you general thoughts on this shot

I would take a tight crop around the moose using a copy of the photo about the left hand quarter to get rid of the branches at the top of the photo.

This is very nice, I think you need the branches to tell you where this was taken, A picture of just the moose wouldn't cut it with me.

first things first> Welcome to the Ugly Hog. Its great to have you here.

I like the photo cropped pretty much as you have it. I agree with Swede. I like your composition.
Hint: When you upload your photos, check the box next to store original. That way we can download your photo and view it magnified and be able to analyze your photos better

Welcome to the "Hog".
As a big moose fan, I see much potential in your shot.
I agree with the crop idea, and might say patience is your biggest asset with wildlife. Moose are interesting subjects and hanging around at a respectful distance will yield great opportunities. The moose coming out the pond would have been a great opportunity.
Having lived in New England and The great Last Frontier I was able to see moose up close and personal and they are fabulous animals.

Thank you for your comments!! I have visited this cow a few times now she and her calf are at this swamp just about every evening, keep waiting for her calf to come out of hiding. The last time i was there they both swam through the swamp but of course they were swimming away from me and there heads were behind some weeds! but i hope to see them again and get an even better shot!

Please be very very careful taking these shots...moose are extremely dangerous creatures. They live in our backyard all winter and often drop their babies in neighborhoods...we have had several moose/people encounters this summer...one was a 9 yr old child who was stomped breaking her hip and back.

I like it just the way it is. The branch helps to complete the frame. Oh sorry Im glad that you have joins us, welcome to the club and have fun.

Great timing to capture the water dripping off head!!!!!!!

Like the reflection in the water!!!!

Reflection of light on wet fur!!!

Cropping off some of the top and right side would reduce areas of distraction.

I would crop the top and right side, leaving room for the moose to look on the left. Wish I would have been there. Keep going back if the moose and baby are there. Love the shot. It is different, not the static moose shot.

The warning is legitimate. Anyone who photographs these animals is at risk. I recently visited Alaska and frequently heard from friends that they don't let their children outside when the moose are around.

Another welcome! I just love the shot and the setting! I think you could crop more but then you would miss the element in which the shot was taken. I like it just the way it is!!!!
