The Islands of Rassey, Rona and Skye, from the Applecross Peninsular, Western Highlands, Scotland.-- For me this picture represents all of the reasons why I love Scotland, with its vast ever changing sky's, its beautiful untamed rugged landscapes with moods that draw you in , the unpredictable and everchanging weather, the wild rich seas that batter the rugged coastline one minuet and then allow you do walk the white sands of the uncrowded beaches the next , and of course the people.-- Its well worth the 2 day drive three of four time a year just to drink it all in?--

Thanks John, I'm sure you love the place. I guess you ancestors could well have originated from the highlands after being drive on there land during the Highland Clearances?

Not actually. The father died and the oldest son got all the land (he sold it & moved to London). Mine was a younger one who got nothing and therefore came to the USA, and here I am!

We always go in September (except for our Christmas/Hogmany trip last year) which is usually a wonderful month in Scotland. The weather is cool, the tourist traffic is way down as well as accommodation prices, and the skies are beautiful.

I agree Sue, although June and July are great months away from the tourist trail, the only down side are the pesky midges??????
