Thanks for the mist tip! I will be taking most of my pictures close to Lake Erie, so this tip is a Life saver!...Julian
Julian, I lived in Pennsylvania for years and I am aware of lake Erie. On windy days you can get a lot of sand in the air. BEWARE. Protect your camera, nothing can ruin plastic gearing faster than a few grains of sand, just a few specks can shut you down, for good. Be safe and enjoy. One of my favorite places was the light house at Township Park at Conneaut, Ohio.

Hi my name is Julian Gang and I have a Sony DSC-HX400v, my question is does anyone else have one of these cameras. I'm fully satisfied I would just like to hear some other feedback. This seems like it is a very nice site for any kind of photographer and I am very glad to be a member!...Julian
I have an HX400V. I liked it so much that I bought one as a gift for my nephew's wedding. They like it also. It makes the best moon shots (low ISO, manual focusing etc.), cropping and printing up to 8.5x11". Some of the best photographs I have were made with the HX400V and printed up to 13x19 inches. These prints are as good as others I have taken with the A7Rii or A9 cameras.
I like that it focuses from (seemingly) 1mm to infinity. I once had it autofocus on the raindrops on the UV filter on the front of the lens.
The main weakness of this camera is the small sensor size --- it requires good, strong light; it has too much noise in dim light, so maybe it is not so good with star shots or night photography, or in dim buildings --- but it does have a built-in flash. Otherwise this is a great camera with a great/sharp lens. The quality per price is the best.
I have both the HX300V and HX400V. Loved them but retired the 300 for a RX10III. I got superb images when I used it, but didn't like the noise in low light. But I always got beautiful and sharp images with it. Below is my portfolio of a few images taken with the HX300 if you care to look.

I am aware of that park, but take most of my shots at Marblehead and Cedar Point...Julian
I use a Phottix Micros flash...Julian

Yes, I got started on Zeiss lenses with my first 35mm, a Zeiss Contaflex. Then a Exackta VX1000, then Exacta RTL 1000, then a Rollie 35. The HX400 was not available when I got the SX50. Go Zeiss...
On my first 35mm I used Zeiss also, the camera was a Yashica FX2 it was recommended to me by a grade school teacher who also worked as a photographer for the local newspaper (Canton Repository)...Julian
