Those sunny hilltops are drawing me in, even if they are kind of rocky Pretty clouds, nice lines along the right shore. Very inviting.

Thank you Linda. To get the channeling effect of the cleft in the foreground I had to perch precariously on the top of a large rock. Out of all the foreground possibilities it seemed like the best option available. The patchy light was how it was so I had to go with it.

You make that sound like a bad thing, lol. I think it makes your image more interesting than if was evenly lit. But then you know I'm often all about the light

The almost featureless water is bounded by a nice reverse 'C' leading you into the shore at the base of Strontian. The loch itself, although featureless, makes an important component of the overall scene. Got to make more effort to get up there again.

Thanks for commenting, JN. Lochs and whatever happens to be containing them are natural eye channelers. And thanks to some very deep glaciation, even our biggest mountains have a smooth, weathered look to them. Glad you enjoyed.

A pleasing scene! Sky, clouds, mountains, water - all in well composed harmony.

Thank you Mike. You're basically saying that I achieved my objective (of course it helps when nature provides the right ingredients ).

What I get from your photo, is a promise of preserved naturalness of the land.

It would be a nice scene even without the huge mountains in the background. They make it very dramatic. I like this a lot.

Thank you for commenting, fergmark. Unfortunately that "preserved naturalness" is limited to certain areas, and there are few of those areas that can claim to be untouched in any way. But I would say that most of the west coast can claim to be largely unspoiled.

Thank you Erich. You are basically saying that the success of the photo doesn't depend on the mountains. I would say that the carefully chosen foreground is mainly responsible for that.
