I'm far from a professional photography. I still haven't taken the time to learn all the settings on my camera. I have a Cannon Rebel XT with an additional telephoto lens. I'm kinda hoping to learn some tricks here to avoid having to read the instruction manual. So far my favorite thing to photograph would have to be landscapes. I just love nature. Here are a few of the photos I took while living on Maui. We now live in the Southwest, and I would love to photograph some of the architecture around here. I'm happy to be a new member and I look forward to your posts.

Welcome - all are very nice pictures. Just as an aside I would suggest you at least thumb through the manual - yes as dry as toast. But even if it only confuses you more it may give you some ideas of questions to ask. Thanks for the views.

Welcom aboard photogrl57. Love the sunset pic. If there is anything I could suggest, it would be to go through the manual. We all hated having to do that; however, it is the very best way to learn your camera. Then add a class or two specifically designed to take you through the operation of your camera. You will be amaized at what you will learn and the pics you will capture.

Enjoy the site.

Thanks y'all. I know you are right. I've been meaning to reread it I'm sure it will make more sense now than it did 5 years ago lol. I debated taking a couple photography classes at the college here just for fun and after seeing some of the photos that everyone is posting I most likely will. I appreciate the encouragement. :)

Hey David, I am going to Haleakala in February. Any good pointers?

My suggestion would be to go fairly early in the morning because by noon the cloud cover will hide a lot of the view of the island. There are some great shots to be had on the road up there.

How did your photos turn out? I have been practicing but still haven't gotten a clear sunset.

Pretty good I think :) but I'm biased lol. The best sunsets that I found on Maui were up near Lahaina. It really depends on the clouds. There are a couple parks on the road between Maalaea (near the aquarium) and Lahaina.

We lived on the island for 4 years so I have thousands of pics. :) You should also think about driving around the West Maui Mountains. There is a place there called the Blow Hole and there is some gorgeous scenery on the way.

I thought the same thing when I put my pictures up. We stayed in a home on Front street with a private beach. The turtles were amazing to watch there all day. West Maui sounds like a plan. Thanks :D
