I was fortunate to be in Yosemite just before the current large scale wild fires started. Actually, I was just fortunate to be there at all. I have to say that the hike up to glacier point was tough with a #35 camera back pack. But so much harder going down. From the valley it's a 5 mile hike to this vantage point with over 4100 vertical feet of climbing. This difficulty makes capturing the shot even more rewarding.

Nice b/w shot. The rigorous hike does make you appreciate the beauty and challenge of the climb. Sounds like you enjoyed both!

Did they not tell you there is a road you can take and the bus from the valley will take you to Glacier point. You could have saved a day of hiking and back breaking with all the camera equip and could have used the time to hike vernel or Nevada falls and gotten some great pictures that are not as common as that one

I am scheduled to be in Yosemite in Sept. How are the wild fires I've been reading about going to effect my trip?

I learned that once we made it to the top. My friends who took me along are serious hikers. I was in for a demanding home with them regardless of where we went in the park. They live nearby. No doubt there are many incredible vantage points within the park. I could see a few from where I shot. If there is a next time, I'll be sure to choose one of the routes less traveled. Thanks for the insights. I'd love to see some of your shots from these lesser know spots.
