Live no where near any camera stores, so limited to sight-unseen on-line purchase.

Need a camera bag (shoulder sling preferred, I believe) to carry Nikon D7200, Nikon 70-300, Sigma 17-70 and Nikon 35 prime (along with misc. and sundry items). Sigma most likely to be mounted most.

Want sufficient size, but not much excess beyond current kit.

Anyone here with a similar sized kit that can offer some options for me?

My advance gratitude for any and all suggestions, as usual.......

With that amount of weight in just lenses and camera, a sling type bag may be more difficult to handle than an actual back pack. And since you want to put "other stuff" in it also, you have out grown most sling packs. I use a Lowe Pro Tactical AW 350 with that amount of equipment. It has a belt to help support the weight but is easy to work with. I know that most will tell you to get some other brand and go off on monster size bags, but you can never go wrong with Lowe Pro. I have a D750 with a 24-120mm lens, plus a Sigma 15-30mm wide angle (heavy) and a Tamron 150-600mm (4.5 lbs). I can carry a tripod or monopod strapped to the exterior (I use the monopod as a walking stick also). Plus a pocket for water and I roll up a poncho strapped to the top or bottom. The rest of the stuff I let my wife carry in her small back pack. Not sure how much more room you need, but this style also comes in a larger size, the 450. You will also find some packs that can adjust from a sling to a full 2 strap back pack. I used to work for Backpacker Magazine and we got to try out all kinds of packs/camera bags/lens bags and the Lowe brand always was ranked at or near the top. No matter what you buy, make sure you get the dimensions, a good picture of the inside of the bag, and does it have a rain cover. Always keep in mind if it will make it through the airport and onto carry-on luggage. Hope this helps.

I have used a Lowepro sling bag for years for my D7100, and now I use it for my Sony A7 III. You will be able to fit in a telephoto lens and a small prime in addition with your camera. The bag also is expandable in case you want to carry a sweater or whatever. It has small compartments for extra memory cards, batteries, etc. It has external pockets for a guidebook and a water bottle. I first bought it after my backpack was sliced open at a bus station in Ecuador some years ago. The sling bag makes me less vulnerable when I travel because I have more control over my camera equipment and can take it out and back in with ease.

Buying online, you should be very careful to make sure there's a good return policy on whatever you buy. Lots of choices of types and makers. There's a very good thread on the topic of how to select a bag, and which manufacturers get the Hog seal of approval. Opinions here are like belly buttons - everyone has one and they're all a little bit different.

Enjoy:

My suggestion is Think Tank bags. I have 3 and they are super quality.

Another vote for LowePro. If you give their customer service a call, they’ll give you specific recommendations based on the equipment you plan to carry, and if you’re dissatisfied, they’ll exchange it. I have the bag mentioned above plus 3 more LowePro bags, and they’re all well designed and excellent quality. Note that they update models regularly and you can often pick up a discontinued model for a fraction of the list price on Amazon.

I am going through this process now also. Disappointed after 3 bad purchases in a row, as I am like you and not near a shop. Lowepro make good stuff but I am also looking at a Vanguard Alta 46. They seem to make good camera gear.

I like Lowepro, but there are alternatives. Decide how many compartments you want, what kind of access to the main compartment, and whether or not you want one with a rain cover.

I use this bag and have for the last 8 years. http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-349254-1.html#5868432

As stated in that post, it's inexpensive and doesn't scream expensive camera gear inside.

I don’t use a camera bag at all. They say “steal me”. I use a Northface backpack and put my lenses in padded lense bags. I also take a bag that will hold my camera with zoom attached for day trips where I won’t need the other stuff.

i have the d7200 and carry 2-3 lenses, a sb 700 flash, filters, cards, batteries, charger, cables, battery grip, zip lock bags, camera sleeves for wet weather, and other misc items...

i use a lowpro backpack i got at BestBuy. it is easy to travel with when flying, driving, boating, hiking, etc...it is well padded and has compartments...i much prefer the backpack over the single strap.

I use a LowePro 145 (I think that was model number) it holds 1 dslr 2 primes and 2 zooms plus the usual assortment of accessories. Their nearest current model looks to be the 250. The same basics but also will carry a 15” lap top and has “strappage” for a tripod. This is a backpack design but as a transport bag, like getting from the car to a nearby location or on and off a plane, I usually just hang if off my shoulder. Longer distances, I use it as it was designed. I’m closing fast on my 79th and this is still light enough for my use.
