I’m right handed and left eye dominant so I shoot with my left eye. I’ve tried, and failed, to switch to my right because I also wear glasses and my smudge factor is huge!

Right eye because it is my dominant one. Barring blindness, injury, etc. everyone has a dominant eye, kind of like left or right-handed.

Yes. My dominant eye is the left one, but due to my ophthalmologist's decision of
implanting a lens for close range on the right eye I need to use my left eye, which is un-natural for
me. The natural grip of a camera for a right-handed like me always made me use my right eye
at the viewfinder.

Why does it matter what anyone else uses? Use whichever works better for you, for whatever reason.

My right eye. Just tried using my left. Felt weird.

Right eye for camera eyepiece (Sony 6000). If you use your left eye you get nose oil on the viewing screen.

I am right handed so I find using my left eye to focus works best for me. Using my right eye cramps the room my right hand has to move around on the buttons of the camera.

??? Your right hand is on the right side of the camera (as you face it from the back) so when you put your left eye to the viewfinder the right side of your face would crowd the right hand, or am I missing something?

Yup but for us left eye people it works. It also hides your face.

So how many keep both eyes open when they’re taking pictures?

I dont let either eye dominate me, I tell them what to do. However, my right eye always wins me over.

Right handed, left eye dominant. But, at my age, the dominant eye issue is definitely murky. LOL

Right eye, right hand. Because when younger had amblyopia and my right eye was the good one. Still can look individually out of an eye without closing the other. The non-focused eye wanders outward. Have difficulty seeing stereoscopically at a distance. Vision is actually better out of left eye for distance, due to cataract surgery. Generally read in stereo.

We all instinctively focus with our dominate eye. In my case the left one.
