Left. I am left eye dominate. But also because It feels unnatural for me to only close my left eye.

I’m right handed and use my left eye - never really thought about it. Just the most natural. I also slalom skied with my left foot forward. In water skiing they termed that “goofy foot”. I’ve been in construction 50 years and I can cut paint trim with my left or right hand and hammer with my left when I have to. I guess it’s what the individual feels most natural doing, unless you have a vision impedement in one eye. I also wear glasses and never take them off to look thru the view finder.
Actually "Goofy Foot" for a right hander would be right foot forward, as most right handers balance best on their left foot. Don't ask me why, but it's true. Anyway, I'd bet that your left eye is your dominant eye. I too am mostly right handed and left eye dominant. Because of this, some things just come more natural left handed. Anyway, to answer the original question, I use my left eye in the viewfinder and I'd bet that the vast majority of us use our dominant eye for the viewfinder, which ever eye or which ever handed they might actually be. Good luck and good shooting to all.

Same here mate. But I can’t hit a baseball left handed. That might have been a matter of training because I can play phone ping pong with my left or right now
Normally a person will use their dominant eye. In my case I am right handed, and left eye dominant.
I let the camera focus but look with my right eye (my good one)

Which eye do you use to focus and why, just wondering?
Always used right eye, am right handed and focused with my right eye, developed cataracts and learned to focus with my left eye, cataract surgery removed cataracts and went back to right eye.

Look at a subject about 20 meters away with your hand up. Close on eye and then the other. The eye which when closed makes your thumb move is your dominant eye. Generally, that eye has the best vision.
I did this and my left eye is dominant according to this test, yet I've naturally always used my right eye when looking through a camera viewfinder. Am I missing something, i.e., would using my dominant eye change anything in my photography? I adjust the viewfinder diopter setting for my eye so there should be no vision problem/difference using my non-dominant eye. Also when using a monocular, microscope, or telescope I've always instinctively used my right eye. Maybe because of habit, but it seems unnatural to use my left eye.
Left hand writing, left eye focusing. I wish I could use my right eye for focusing and in my shooting hobby, but it has proved to be practically impossible. Left eye focusing means you have nowhere to put your nose, and this hampers my view through the finder, and causes off-center use of the finder, which results in focus problems. If any hogs have a similar problem, I would appreciate knowing how they have addressed it. Thanks, Mercer
I'm right-handed, but use my left eye. However, I'm trying to switch to using my right eye because when I use my left my nose sometimes touches the directional pad and changes my focus point. Anyone else have that problem?
I use live view and leave both eyes open. I am right handed and left eye dominate.

I had that and other issues with mine... but added a Hoodman eye cup to my camera. Clips & locks on firmly and keeps my face back away from the camera screen and buttons.

My old friend "Blind Lemon Chitlin" used to say - "I can't see it, but it sure does feel nice"!
Either depends on which camera I'm using.
i had the same issue. my parents worked on me to make me right handed...i am also ambidextrous...

My right eye! Strangely enough, I never thought about this, as to the physioloical reason for this in terms of sides of the brain or my right-handedness. I think I was a south paw at birth but my grandmother forced me to favor my right hand. Something about devils and superstition???. In the first grade at school, I began to read backward and reverse all of my letters- probably a bit of dyslexia, thanks to Grandma! No problem- boot camp and close order drills fixed that! Marching orders and all that kinda thing! Nothing like a DI yelling in your ear to cure any neurological issued.
Nowadays, I am kinda ambidextrous, a bit of a switch hitter but I still shoot with my right eye to the viewfinder. Oh...when I need to, I can shoot with both eyes open!
