That's a lot of drama to pack into one image! Nice. Brings back memories.

The "Wow" factor is fantastic on this one. Very Ansel Adams like!

There is no color version. Shot on 4x5 Tri-X. (Or maybe it was FP4+....)

Thanks, Mike. Twenty-five years ago --when I shot this-- you could probably have gotten there just fine. Now, I expect I could still get there, and maybe even get out of there, too, but nobody'd be wise to place any bets on the 'get out of there' part. At least not with a LifeFlight helicopter assist.

Pretty easy to find. Its marked on all the maps. Prior to the 4WD road closure in Salt Creek Canyon south of Peekaboo, people used to drive to within a quarter mile of it. The commercial tour companies used to take visitors there almost daily. Since 1995, the most direct access requires a five mile hike to access the arch. The whole 20 mile length of Salt Creek Canyon contains more gems than a person would see while viewing England's crown jewels (imho).

Drove there in a 4x4 40 years ago in 1978; glad I saw it when I did, because my bad knees could never get me there today. The only way I will ever see it again will be by aerial tour
