This article is accurate in its description of the benefits of various cannabinoids. However, it is also clearly an ad for their brand of hemp oil. The CBD derived from hemp oil is, unfortunately, less effective than that found in medicinal cannabis for a very simple reason. THC acts as an agonist (catalyst) to CBD thus enhancing its potency. Conversely, CBD is an antagonist to THC, reducing the psychotropic effects. If CBD were derived from a sativa or indica cannabis plant it could be more effective, but the federal government, in its shortsighted view of cannabis, requires that there be virtually no THC in CBD oil. Therefore, hemp oil is legal having only an infinitesimal amount of THC.
The article mentioned CB1 and CB2 receptors. These receptors are part of the Endogenous Cannabinoid System (ECS) which regulates a surprising number of bodily functions. The ECS is fascinating. Check it out, if you are interested.
Marijuana the wonder plant. How did society progress without free use of it.
Cures everything from hair loss to hemorrhoids.
Give me a break.

Actually, cannabis has been used medicinally since about 3000BC, which is when it was first identified in Chinese writings. Hemp, a cannabis derivative, was grown in the Colonies for its use as paper, cloth and rope, among other things. It was prescribed by physicians and sold in drugstores in the United States from the early 19th century until 1937. Queen Victoria, know for being very conservative, used it for her menstrual pain. It wasn't until the US started the Federal Bureau of Narcotics (predecessor to the DEA) that cannabis became a "bad" drug. The original reasons for its positioning as a dangerous drug was based on racism and money. If one were to look at the myriad studies that have been done internationally, one would see that cannabis is very effective in treating various conditions and ailments. However, if one chooses to believe the propaganda that the feds keep spewing about the dangers of marijuana, it perpetuates an archaic and wrongheaded belief. It is ironic that the FDA has just approved a cannabis derived pharmaceutical to treat epileptic seizures, while still saying there is no medical benefit to cannabis. Huh??
BTW, it doesn't do anything for hair loss or hemorrhoids. However, it can reduce or stop epileptic seizures, enable multiple sclerosis patients to move from wheelchairs to canes, reduce the horrendous effects of chemotherapy and in some case shrink tumors, relieve chronic pain and anxiety, reduce the night terrors and flashbacks of PTSD, reduce the eye pressure of glaucoma sufferers, and dramatically reduce the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. And, so much more. How do I know this? Because I have personally counseled over 4,000 medical cannabis patients over the last 4.5 years.
Probably like any other vice, if used in moderation there won't be bad consequences. However, excessive smoking destroys drive and initiative (at a minimum).

If you had ever seen the effects on autistic children. You would take another look at cannabis. A friend has a grandchild had dramatic improvement.
I don't have a problem with it being legal. It's no worse than alcohol at all and in many ways better.
My only issue with it is that it makes me sit and watch netflix and eat high carb food. :(

I just replied a few days ago about the history of my usage of CBD. I will rehash my experience with CBD again. About a year ago, I started getting pain in my left knee.. It got so bad that I had to go to my doctor in a wheelchair. He gave me a shot in the knee but it didn't help too much. He also told me, because of my age, that if I had the operation I would be spending four to six months in rehab. Then my son told me about CBD. He then gave me a bottle and the stuff worked real great. But when I tried to get another bottle from them, they said that they went out of business. I then tried several other brands. But found them to contain THC or were diluted too much. The THC, in the dosage I require, gave me a buzz, different from getting drunk, that ruined my day. I finally found a company that sells CBD in the concentration that I require, and since then my knee has been real great, although I can still hear the bones grinding every so often.
And Dirtpusher
Yes, I'm sure there are medical uses for marijuana, as is for opium, Botlulinum Toxin, curare, and various other plant derivatives. But we wouldn't consider legalizing them.
If you want to slow down brain function, grass will do just that.
As dirtpusher said, you can do the same thing over and over again, listen to the same song over and over. Well that's just whoopee.
People can have an alcoholic drink, even 2 with next to no effects on driving, etc. And stop right there.
But the whole idea of smoking marijuana is the get stoned to one degree or another.
If you're talking drunk v stoned, yes, I've never heard of a mean stoned person, mean drunk, yes. I can be.
Mix the two and it's real trouble.
When they invent a roadside test for marijuana intox I'll feel better, but they don't have one.
And yes I've experienced both drugs.
