Our city has some dead trees in their parks and were abut to dig them out when someone suggested that they have seen some sculpturing done with a chain saw. They looked into it and contracted a nearby chain saw carver. I'm not sure how many trees he will ultimately do but I think this is the first one.

I've done carvings in my area and it seems he has a good start on the project. Excellent carving so far!

A very positive way to continue to enjoy the tree after its growing life is over!

Thanks for all the comments. Think of this tree as having 3 sides. You are seeing one side it has a second side to it with more carvings on it. Sadly the third side has dry rot in it and they won't be able to do any carvings on that part. I think I read in the paper it initially was to be a larger carving but because of the rot they decided to do several small carving on it.
