I have 10 Frank Sinatra PBS video shows (as originaly boxed and sold by PBS) and would like to transfer them to DVD's the easiest way possible. Are there any copyright laws involved here? Any comments would be much appreciated.
there is no law that I know of as long as you are not trying to sell them.
As long as the DVD is for your own or family use there is no infringement on copyright law.
However, should you start to copy and sell them for profit, that's another ballgame.

Perhaps the easiest way to transfer them to DVD is to look on Ebay for the same but in DVD. PBS may sells both version.
I have what is called: High speed DVD maker by Tevion. You can transfer all you VHS's to DVD threw you computer (if you have a DVD burner). It's easy as 1,2,3.
From LegalZoom web site (and previous legal sites I have viewed in the past) "In addition to making a backup copy of software, it is legal to make a backup copy of a CD or DVD so that you can continue to enjoy the copyrighted material if your original copy fails. It is illegal to make copies of CDs or DVDs if you intend to distribute them to third parties, even by giving them away."
Just FYI, the PBS collection is available on Amazon for $57 on a 7 ea DVD set (assume did not need as much space as the VHS tapes). That may be easier and cheaper way to go?
Otherwise, here is a link in regards to your original question:

Be aware these were made in 2003 and are discontinued. If interested, going to have to find a used one somewhere.
