Thanks for the ideas and thoughts everyone. I think I will do as RWR suggested and program the Fn button to do the same thing.

I have that eyepiece for my D7100 and have found that your eye is a little further away from the back of the camera. I also use my left & right eye with BBF and eyeglasses with no problems.
Hope this helps

Thank you much!. The D7100 saw a lot of action and I gave it to my wife when I upgraded. Actually that is a lie. She appropriated it.

I have no issues using BBF and use the DK-19 simply because I like it.

You can program one of the front buttons to do focus I guess you would call it front button focus. LOL

Nikon, as well as other manufacturers, make eyecups that are not huge and offer a little relief. I use the DK-19 on a couple of my bodies, but it is body specific.

My d750,7000,and7200 allow me to program my fn or preview button to AF same principle as BB focus my thumb gets tired sometimes so I use the buttons on the front of the camera

I have the D7100, wear glasses and use BBF with no problems. (In fact, I love it!) I do use my right eye to aim the camera. I doubt BBF is as easy, or even possible, if using the left eye with the viewfinder. I would think that would be very awkward, for a lot of operational reasons.

I wear eyeglasses as I'm nearsighted. But when I use my SLRs and DSLRs I adjust the diopter on the eyepiece and leave the glasses off. If you have a severe correction prescription you may be able to have a custom diopter made for your eye and camera. Though, I don't use BBF.

You didn't mention what camera. I believe with many you can choose a different button, on the back or front.

He said D7100. It might be a Nikon layout problem. I have never had a problem on Canon.

Just looked at images. The D7100 AF button IS really close to the viewfinder. It is almost touching the diopter adjustment. It is between 1/4 and 1/3 the distance from the edge of the eye cup to the right side of the body. For comparison, my 80D's button (and that of the D850) is fully half way to the right side. I could see where the thumb would be in contact with the glasses' frame when using the BBF on the D7100 during shooting.

I have a lot of trouble seeing the entire view through the viewfinder, and have to shift my eye around on the eyepiece. I wear progressive bifocals and have astigmatism such that the standard diopter doesn't help. I once wore contacts and loved them, but was always getting dirt in my eyes doing mechanic and fabricating jobs so went back to glasses. I have said before, why aren't cameras made upside down from current design so the viewfinder hangs down to your eye and the body rests against your forehead. This would get rid of the nose to body interference and allow both eyes open shooting much as riflemen do. Guess I could use the LCD display, but how does one hold a camera steady out in space?

Yes, I enjoy the various control features Nikon provides. I have no issues with BBF and it's pretty much all that I use. Really good on wildlife and sports. I don't think my fingers can again be re-trained! I replaced my 810 with an 850 for simplicity when switching back and forth to the 500. Tough to get old and dumber, but if I could only have one camera it would be the 850.

I also wear glasses and use BBF with no problems. I still have my first DSLR, a D7000, and also a D810. I think Peterff had some good points

Another question: how big are your glasses? I have progressive lenses [no-line bifocals] so cannot have their lenses too small, but I keep them at a size that fits my eye and cheek profile. Remember, you do not have to put your eyeglasses snug up against the viewfinder - just close enough to see what you are shooting and are able to read the information presented inside the viewfinder.

Do you know if the eyecup would make it easier to access the BBF on a Nikon D7100? My finger doesn't fit between the glasses and the button.

I wear glasses all the time and have not found this to be a problem using BBF on my D7000.

I do not understand what you're saying, how would BBF be any different than using the shutter button in regards of eyeglasses (you use the viewfinder the same way with both)??

I have been shooting with my D500 and BBF wearing my sunglasses and have not had that problem. I use my right eye

We can keep the repetitive dialogue going or wait for the OP to respond.
