l was out yesterday looking to photograph birds. It was a little lean in that department. But all was not lost. The butterfly caught my eye, it was not very big but it stood out for me. I think it was the contrast in colors that did it for me. FYC

The out of focus foreground flowers add an appealing sense of depth. The single tiny butterfly among all the same-colored flowers is very eye-catching. This really works for me!

Thanks Linda, I had my Sigma 150-600 lens on my camera so It was fairly easy to get the shallow DOF. In the past in this area i have spotted lots of butterfly but on this day he was about the only one I saw.

Yep, the contrast is what makes this shot. Also I think your put selective focus to good use here. I might be tempted to crop a bit tighter; but I'm sure you have considered that already. Let it stand as it is. It is different and very engaging.

Erich thanks for commenting and giving me your thoughts. We must be in the same wave lengths because I was thinking of a slight crop but in the end decided to go with what I presented.

Tricky bit of focussing for sure, and your effort has paid-off very nicely. Not my favourite colours but they certainly work well here Frank.

If it wasn't for the butterfly I may not have ever taken the shot. For me it all came down to the color contrast between the butterfly and the flowers that caught my eye.
