Which is the best adapter to use old Minolta A mount lenses on the Sony A6000. All these lenses don't have built in motor.

The Sony a6000 is a crop sensor mirrorless camera with the E-mount. I've heard of A-mount to E-mount FF mirrorless cameras. I wonder if they work on crop sensors?

Either the LA-EA3 or the LA-EA4 adapter will both work, with limitations. The LA-EA4 will work the best.

The LA-EA3 adapter does not include an AF motor so the lenses will be manual focus. The LA-EA4 adapter has a focus motor in it, as well as a translucent mirror so you get full TTL Phase Detect AF with those Minolta lenses.

I use the cheapest one available. l hand focus. The legacy glass I use does not have auto focus features but then again the most I have spent on legacy glass is under $20. The lenses work great. I am not a big tele fan because I don't like the weight and don't like the flattening or compression of images they create. But, that is just me!

Minolta A lenses are all autofocus lenses.

I don't have any e-mount bodies yet (but that may change soon). Just talking adapters - I've used Kenko Teleplus (those have a multiplication factor along with coupling) with my Minoltas and recently have started using Fotodiox which have allowed me to use some of my many a-mount lens on my Nikon bodies too (I hope that's not blasphemous!!!) and even an older Sigma tele with Yashica A/F mount on both (mostly manual ops with those, although the Fotodiox does give the ability to manually stop down on some lens. The two that MT Shooter mentions are top drawer from all that I've read. I think you will have a lot of fun with the adapters and all the Minolta and a-mount lens that are available (many for chump change).

Get the LA-EA4, it has the screw drive needed for Minolta AF lenses. Works very well.

As others have stated on here the LA-EA4 is definitely the best. I have owned both the 3 and 4. Quickly sold the 3 and stuck with the 4. It is by far the better choice. Then all your A mount lenses will work on the e mount cameras.

As you point out, there are two different Minolta lenses, so if you are going to only have one adapter, you need the EA4 by Sony, it has a semitransparent mirror and the screw drive for focus on the lenses that need it. The only down side is the lenses that don't need the power drive are going to loose light to the mirror. I have both adapters, my tamron does not need the mirror, my Minolta 50 macro does. The Tamron focuses faster with the ea3 adapter then it does when mounted on the ea4. The 50 macro doesn't have a choice, I have to use the ea4.

I don't know about how Sony did their things. I would be happy with the contrast detect AF on the E mount camera. If it's slow it's OK by me. I do need the motor in the adapter because all the Minolta lenses I have don't have built in motor. I do not like the semitransparent mirror.

I agree that the LA-EA3 or 4 are the best for using A mount lenses on Sony. I have and use both. My experience tells me that EA3 is best with DT lenses and EA4 is best with FF lenses. Your Minolta AF lens is for FF and it seems the EA4 is what would work best.

I have a Sony A-6000, A7II, an LA-E3 adapter and a Sony A-mount 70-300mm G SSM lens. I bought the adapter when I bought the lens for use with the A7II. It works pretty much as advertised with the full frame camera and it does also work with the A-6000 although not as well. On the A-6000 the auto focus hunts about, and is quite slow, but it does work. On the A7II it is fast and accurate. I stick with cheapo adapters for vintage manual glass and it works just fine for me. Just my 2ยข worth.

Maybe you should look into the Sony A-mount system. Then you can use your Minolta lenses directly, using all functions.
