Little Hummer's First Flight

This is the first of two chicks to leave the nest. He flew about a half-foot from the nest, then as I was taking a photo, he flew just a few yards from me, landing on a patio chair (my backyard). He stayed there, seemingly unafraid, as I was snapping photos. Once mom came and fed him, he took off, disappearing in a tree. The other chick is still in the nest, but should make flight soon. Nikon D500 80-400

I love them all. I think that they are the most fascinating creatures on earth. I see them every day and am amazed that these miniature acrobatic flying machines can survive. Nice shots.
