This is a set of pic's I took on Friday last, of a striking looking ship a mate worked on for a 6 week contract.
The Ocean Shield is used to patrol Australias northern borders by our Customs department. It called in to my home port of Fremantle to change crew &, I dare say, restock the supplies.
It's lines are quite radical from most conventional ships but becoming more common for functionality.
It was built in Romania, on the banks of the Danube, quite a way inland. As I have recently discovered with my brother working on a project in a town called Galati. This ship built in Tulcea, a little way down stream from Galati.
New ships are trialled in the Black Sea.
The Sinister look pic has a small spot in front, Being buzzed by a Drone.

Ran out of Fosters?
These shots, nice in themselves, really explode on download. Nice and sharp and well handled colour.
Very unusual configuration for a customs vessel. More resembles the support vessels we see here in the Gulf of Mexico that support the off shore drilling rigs. That's a rather large helicopter pad forward and above the bridge, looks as though it was added more as an after thought then and integral part of the original design.
Very unusual looking vessel. Thanks for posting.
Don
