Members Buy/Sell/Trade Classifieds*** Is it just me? Or am I out in left field on this?
I usually check the Members Classified Ad's daily for something I can't absolutely live without. What get's me is when I open the thread on many classifieds on UHH, there are NO pictures and a dismal description of the item. I know when I sell on ebay I describe the item fully, including all flaws and fully photograph the item utilizing all 12 pictures allowed by ebay. This is a photography forum (sheesh), so you would think the seller would include pictures of the item he/she is attempting to sell. When I open a thread in the classifieds and there are no pictures I simply move on and don't bother to ask questions or request photos from the seller. If he/she can't be bothered, neither can I. Kudos to you Hoggers who list with a good descriptions and include photo's.
OK gang, that's my rant for today. Am I out in left field or what?

You are not alone in this thought.

Always look. Never bought. Agree completely
In this case, “Left Field” might be better termed “The Right Field”. You are spot on Jakebrake!
BTW, the same rant applies to image posting with NO description or shooting parameters - sheeesh - we are all here to learn - at least I am. I do understand some are here only for the entertainment.....

My Samsung S5 cell phone takes pretty good pictures. Oops, probably the seller doesn't have a smart phone....my bad!
I agree. A few days ago, a poster was selling a Canon G15. I give the poster an "A" for effort but he got a few facts wrong about the camera. First of all, it was posted in "photography forum" instead of "Buy, Sell, Trade section" he described the G15 as a mirrorless camera instead of a eight year old point & shoot. He did type a long description of the camera and shot a lot of photo's from every possible angle, too bad he got an important fact wrong...what kind of camera it is.

Although I’m sure most members here are honest, we need to remember that the protection provided by eBay is not available here. For sellers who don’t accept PayPal, the only recourse is through the legal system and ostracization by other members.
Newer members making their first sales should think about how to provide some buyer reassurance.
I have had most excellent transactions with
MPB buying and selling used equipment. I rarely use ebay or CL anymore.

I think many of us on this forum "presume" that because this is a community of like-minded photographers, that there is more of a "built-in trust factor", unlike the wide open spaces of ebay.
However, I am guilty of having a couple of items up for sale that I did not post pics of...whoops, so you're right, this is no place for short cuts either.
