Greetings to all the Ugly Hedgehog forumites, not that I mean any of you are ugly. I am what some may consider an Old Timer, at 71 years young, and at the same time a Newbie here in this forum. I have enjoyed photography for many years, having started slowly while in college, using a Kodak Instamatic.
While in college, my father died and I inherited his Kodak 8mm movie camera. Not long and I found myself enlisting in the Navy where I put the movie camera to good use until it developed mechanical problems and was retired. I then became interested in obtaining a Petri FT SLR with extra lenses. (still have the lenses but the camera has been replaced, with another Petri FT, as the original developed shutter curtain problems.) In the interim I purchased a Petri FTEE and a Pentax K1000 SE. Still have the Pentax but sold the Petri FTEE. With the advancement of digital, I purchased a Pentax ist D which eventually was sold and now have two Pentax K-x DSLR. A couple extra lenses rounds out my collection.
My preference for photography is portraits of families and landscapes, with numerous other subject matter thrown in. No restriction on what I'll photograph , just a few preferences. I've dabbled in macro, animals, wildlife, nature, flowers, etc. I have however not done much in the area of weddings.
I'm looking forward to reading posts from others and learning from the wisdom of the members.
Welcome to the Hog, enjoy.
Welcome aboard. Me ex-Navy too. Let us see your masterpieces. What branch of the Navy, your rating.

Hello, John. I was a Corpsman (HM2) first stationed at the Naval Hoapital at Camp LeJeune, NC, then with a Marine Battalion at the same base, then with the "Gstor Navy" out of Little Creek, Va.
I won't say I have "masterpieces" but given a little time, I'll get the hang of this site and post a few photos I've taken.

I'll need a little time to get into using this site, but will get some photos posted in the future.
