The imposition of PC involves the stifling of free speech to accord with rules that equate to censorship.
Moralizing in support of PC only confirms an external source imposing a standard of acceptable speech.
Advocating the opposite by saying to think for yourself brings out the contrast between the one and the other.
So far in this thread nobody has refuted either Spinoza or Confucius. This citizen goes with them and with the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

I joined the Hog a just a couple of years before you did. UHH was the first Forum of any kind that I joined. I used to participate a fair amount, but have scaled back for the past couple of years. I might participate more in the coming months and actually post some photos; "we'll see about that."
I don't know if the same Ostrich administrator is still in charge. When I joined, BLATANT RACIST "JOKES" were ubiquitous and "the attic" had apparently just been formed to "house" them. This attic appears to be an offshoot of the General Section. What struck me at the time, but frankly I shouldn't have been surprised, was the obvious political bias of some "foul loud-mouthed" individuals, most gun-lovin' and conservative, akin to some supporters of the current POTUS. Per se, of course it's "okay" to be politically conservative, but these individuals, whose comments were often overtly hostile, including on subjects of photography, were tolerated by that Admin. DARE I once listed a URL of comedienne Amy Schumer doing a comedy sketch on selling guns on the Home Shopping Channel! If saw the pro gun right reaction and SWIFT transfer of my link, banished to The Attic where nary a "libtard", as anybody to the left of Nixon would be known, could "survive" any discussion there. It was a ludicrously heavy-handed move by that Admin, and it spoke volumes to me.
Over some time, I actually witnessed more commonly that others beside myself,) decried their racist jokes and hostile posts, and the Hog got better. But as above, I don't check the Hog nearly so often now, so I don't know if (the nebulous) "they" are back to their old ways, or is it a new crew of jerks, or whether overall things haven't changed much.
By the way, I haven't seen this "joke" that JungleJim posted. What some of "them" think, I allege, is that if they feel pressured not to make any ethnic joke, it MUST BE A "PC" MATTER!
WRONG! There IS a difference between what's PC and what is just patently offensive. "They" know it but don't want to admit it!
In closing, IF one can filter out this racist and hostility crap, this Forum DOES provide a means of communicating ideas, photos, and questions about Photography.
