And, if you can, would you please? It seems the birds planted a number of these around my yard. I dug this one up and put it in a planter.

Got nothing for ya Bill, but I love the shot. The light and the isolation rock!

Edit: I know it’s your courteous manner and low tolerance for rule breaking that prevents this but, dang, I woulda loved a download on this beauty.

Beautiful light and composition. Sometimes Google Images can ID. But this time it called it safflower (which looks nothing like, including the color). I tried the term "purple weed" and turns out that is marijuana

It reminded me a little of fireweed. Check with Blenheim Orange; he'll know!

Thanks, glad you liked it. Not sure the download will help, but here you go.

---Edit--- Bruce, clicking store original does nothing. Possibly because my edited files are only 150KB.

Thanks Linda. A friend of mine tried an app on his phone. He uploaded the picture which narrowed it down to 300 choices.

Yes Cleo me. I grow them whenever I can. A big plus is that they self seed quite well and the hummingbirds love them.

Thanks folks. Once 56Hotrod posted about Cleome I did a little reading about it. I am convinced that he got it right. Thanks to those who confirmed it.

In my vocabulary it would be "pretty lavender flower." Lovely.

Yes, it is a cleome! Usually they have fuller blossoms. When they mature fully there will be a zillion tiny seeds in those long seed pods. Careful in getting rid of them as they will self-propogate like crazy.
