Virtually no connection this week but really wanted to post something. This is all I can manage from my iPhone. Your opinion appreciated.

I'd like to see the dogs and not so much grass. It is just a compositional piece.

You could crop the entire front almost up to the dog and person and still have a photograph but with more interest.

I thought it was a person and a dog until I enlarged. So while I like the idea of the long leading line, I think the figures are too small and indistinct (for some of us, lol) to appreciate any potential story implied or inferred.

Linda I will have to go back and take another look. I enlarged and thought it was a person and a dog. Maybe I need my annual eye exam a bit sooner than expected.

Of course you are absolutely correct. Two dogs. Plain to see now that I took a good look. Thanks.

I rather like the path leading to the dogs; I think it makes the photo. Other than breed difference, just about all other dog photos look the same. This one has some sense of place that creates interest--to me, at least.

I agree. That's what makes the photo. What you might do is bring up the dogs' contrast with their environment, crop the detailed grass and some from the left side. Pow!

OK, I’ve found some internet connectivity - which may be short lived as I’m in the middle of Dartmoor.
My thanks to everyone that’s responded. I seldom use my phone camera but this shot is an exception as I hadn’t taken a camera with me.
Like John and Bob I thought the pathway through the grass was what made the shot, and is certainly what attracted me to take it. Bob’s suggested crop would probably make a decent shot of it.
Good to hear everyone’s view on it, thanks again to all.

Ok, well, I don't know what's wrong with MY eyesight, but when I first looked at this picture, the first thing that came to my mind was that the second dog was a dinosaur...like a velociraptor. I shouldn't even admit that. When I downloaded it, I thought...aha. Dog. lol.

Anyway....I like the path leading to the dogs but it would probably be better if the dogs were closer. As if my opinion is worth anything, after admitting I thought it was a dinosaur. :)

I like the path through the grass. But then I like grasses. It's interesting that there's a very well-worn path through there, but the only passers-by are dogs. It makes me wonder where the people are. It's interesting that the dogs are actually ON the path, as my dogs would have been probably making their own paths. It's an interesting image as is.

Veloce she definitely is. Extremely fast over very short distances! Agree they should be a bit closer - but they’re a good bit younger than me and it’s difficult to keep up. Your opinion is valued and I’m glad you looked in. Many thanks.

Well I guess it will soon be mowed and we’ll be back to the narrow worn track across the field. It does get quite well used as it’s a shortcut, diagonally across the field and back to civilisation. These two do like running through the grass when it’s tall like this -especially the big one. The tiddler has to jump up and down to see where her pal has got to!
Thanks for looking-in APL, good to see you here.

Dave,
I love the composition and the basic proportions of all components...from the fine detail of the blooming foreground grasses with all texture detail receding smoothly with the modeled terrain to the horizon. The dogs in the grass path are the perfect hook for focus of mid-ground.

The tall slender dark one? A coursing hound? Saluki?
The other a Westie?
How far off am I on those guesses?

Thanks for making the cellphone effort to post this week.

A definitely worthy image!

As you might have suspected, I could not resist a 3D conversion...and I am most pleased with the result.
It is presented as a stereo triplet. The left two arranged for parallel gaze, and the right two arranged for crossed gaze.

Dave, br I love the composition and the basic prop... (show quote)

Pleased you've looked-in Dave, and glad you like it.
Not miles off on the dogs. The skinny one is a lurcher, cross greyhound/saluki. The toddler iOS a yorkie/jack (Yorkshire terrier/Jack Russell terrier cross). Often mistaken for a Parson's Jack Russell. They are great pals and are never apart.
I posted my favourite shot off them a couple of years ago - you can find it here: www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-383044-1.html
Needless to say, my lousy eyesight doesn't make much of the 3D version - my fault, not yours I'm sure.
Many thanks for commenting - hope you are keeping well.
Dave.
