A point that may or may not be important to you, but you may want to go to the D7xxx series in APS-C as nothing less than that (D3xxx or D5xxx) has the screw drive motor in the body required to be able to use legacy auto- focus lenses (AF), only those with stepper motors in the lens (AF-S) with only a few restrictions. Does that 18- 300 lens need a screw drive body or does it have a an internal stepper motor? Welcome to the Hog, a lot of good advice here.

Welcome to UHH James, glad you joined us. I would look at a Nikon D7200, a very nice camera. You can purchase new or search for refurbished models and save a few $$$.
