Choices, Nikon or Sigma

What to you guys think: I am rapidly approaching the point I will get a new camera and glass.
I await to see if nikon release the D400 or D600.
but I could squeeze to a D800 but I was looking at the sigma Merrill today and thats pretty impresive.
I would appreciate your thoughts

The reason you buy Nikon is for the glass. I have a D800 and pretty much keep the Nikkor 28-300mm lens on it and get outstanding images.

3 points for the Sigma.
Do you want to limit yourself to a crop sensor?
Do you want to limit yourself to Sigma only lenses?
Do you really want to pay Nikon D800 price for losing all this?

Go with Nikon, there is no comparison between Sigma and Nikon.

I also am thinking of updating my old Nikon and have been looking at the Sony Alpha D77 which is in the same price range that you are looking at. This camera has some features that the other cameras will have in the future. Also Sony is selling the rights to the image sensor to Nikon for upcoming models.
I know the glass is important but the reviews on this camera are impressive.
