One person's idea of "anal" is many other peoples' idea of "organized". I prefer to call myself "organized" though my wife and sons don't always agree!

My son was giving me some crap as I was sorting through my equipment. He noticed that I have all my camera batteries lettered. I have six, lettered A-F. When he asked me why I told him I use them in order, A through F as they run down and get recharged. So, for example, when D comes out of the camera, E goes in and D goes straight to the charger. He laughed at me and called me anal.

I just want to keep usage and charge cycles even across all the batteries.

Anyone else manage their batteries in a similar way? Or am I just weird?

I have only two batteries for my Canon 60D, but I sorta follow a similar system. When a battery come out of the camera (between 1/3or less capacity left; it immediately goes on charge and the already charged battery from the last switch is installed. If it doesn't show a full charge--seldom happens unless I haven't been very active--I immediately charge it. If I'm going out for a full day's shoot or even for a shorter time that I expect to be active, I charge both the day before. Works for me.

PS--I think your son owes you an apology and maybe a smack upside his head!

Those who arbitrarily shoot from the hip and the lip don't understand the need for organization. We are seeing the results in our national government.

Do you find that they successfully recharge during rotation cycles. I found mine tended to stay discharged.

It's beginning to look like the weird ones are the ones that don't do this.

I think you are weird for using letters. If you check the manual, if definitely recommends using numbers to organize batteries and cards. (:->. That said, it is definitely a good idea to rotate the crops as you describe. As previously noted, I would also suggest noting the date of purchase on the label and, in my case, the vendor purchased from in case it needs to be returned within the warranty period. This has happened, especially when going to third party batteries, like Watson. But that is for another day and another post.

I should have numbered my socks and undies so they would wear out evenly.

I do as well. With 1 being my oldest. Helps with knowing which ones are to be thrown out.

In your first statement, you mentioned the; "if". In your second "but". I love these two words. There are only 2 and three letters. Powerful words. If Clinton were honest, but she is not. If Clinton was trustworthy, but she is not. If Clinton wasn't such a liar, but she is. If Clinton were so deceiving, but she is not. Would we have this guy as President? If only but sadly the case.
I have two batteries. One in the camera the other charged and ready for battle. Take one out, put it in the charger put the fully charged battery in the camera. Sounds too easy.

Oh dear. Time to send this to the attic. Photography and politics don't really mix that well.

You are not weird, if one goes bad among the bunch and you don't have them identified you can spend a lot of time tracking down the bad one. I do it with just about everything I have more than one of the same of, doesn't matter what it is.
