You have done well, when you call "Come" your Jack actually turns round, mine just keeps on going - and going .....

It's maddening sometimes - you can see in their eyes that they KNOW what it is you want them to do.
They just don't care - their own agenda is much more important.

Several things I've learned about them-

1- All human activity must be authorized by and directly supervised by a Jack Russell.

2- I'll never be able to go to the bathroom alone again.

3- Hoping for normal doggie obedience is futile, a waste of my emotional energy.

I didn't realize my Australian Shepherd was a terrier. He has to be there to supervise everything I do, and he does all the other terrier tricks including turning to look at me before continuing with his own agenda.

My jack Russell terrier mix does all those plus he will jump in my lap put his paws on my chest and look me in the eyes as if he is saying; well I am here what are you going to do now, then he will turn around and lay down on the arm of the recliner.

Ah, the Terrier Stare - it feels like x-ray vision to the human.....

Sounds like all of the cats I’ve had. (I've never *owned* a Cat. You don't own cats: dogs have owners - cats have staff.)

Not my Aussies. I have had 2, and would only have Aussie's after those 2, They would not fetch, but if I said any command, they obeyed. I may have had to say it twice, but never more. I always cam first with mine. I love those dogs.

Have you people never heard of a Labrador Retriever? They live their lives trying to please their person. I have had six, and about to get my seventh, a Rescue lab from the pound. Scary smart, very obedient, and a bundle of love.

Labs are good dogs, I had one for 16 years.
But there's something about a Terrier - they're definitely not for everyone, you have to be able to accept them as they are.........

marine73 - You should understand that the action of staring into your eyes is a strong dominance behavior - it is not cute and could result in other serious actions. Feel free to contact me if you want some training advice - but yes, it is a Jack Russel.
