I am having trouble loading jpeg files into elements. A friend sent a jpeg photo to me but I cannot open it with elements. I get the message it has an invalid jpeg marker and cannot open. Is fb blocking this? Anybody else having this problem?
I had a similar problem. What I had to do was open it in another program and save it with a different name then PS was able to open it. Reported it to Adobe but their support is pretty useless.

Facebook has absolutely nothing to do with it! I copy photos from FB all the time to store them in Photos before sending them in an email or re-posting them on a different blog like UHH. And btw, Adobe support - as reported here on UHH is very good. /Ralph

Unless they've changed they don't support Elements.
If you want, send me a pm with that photo attached (with "store original"/download) and I'll try opening in my PS Elements 2018.
Another thought: try opening in ACR. At top of Elements main page, click "file - open in camera raw."
Thanks for the help; I was going nuts trying to understand "why". Your answer worked just fine. I loaded the photo in raw, did the editing and saved in jpeg. Now it will load in all versions of ps elements.
On Facebook, right click photo, in dropdown left click save photo as pictures. In pictures highlight photo click and send to Documents. From there you can
photo shop, (mess with) and then print or send via email.
