Working at my desk with windows open at my cabin in the mountains....no screens. Looked up and realized I was being watched. Young one, maybe 150 lbs, but startling nontheless...... Grab shot, but got it... He ran off as soon as I stood up....šŸ˜‰

"Fishes" is not a word. "Fish" is both the singular and plural.

Who cares?

And by the way... I have a tendency to look things up so...

Nobody, so why not keep it out of the thread?

Some years ago, I was backpacking in the Rocky Mountain National Park...in Colorado. I had just finished setting up my tent and gear at a "back-country" site and was the only camper there...solo trip, by the way. As soon as it got dark, since there was nothing else to do, I got in my tent and slipped into my sleeping bag. It did not take long before the day's exertion took its toll and I went to sleep. I had only just drifted into light slumber when I heard a noise, like a cough. My first thought was that it was the person who had reserved the one other campsite and had arrived late due to the rain that day. I rolled over to look out the front of the tent...only to see across the clearing...some 40' or so feet....a black bear...!! I had my camera fairly close by...at the foot of my sleeping bag....and my first thought was to get it and take a few photos of this visitor....but then, I had this mental image of the rangers finding my chewed up body the next morning with my camera by my side....I thought of them taking it to a One Hour...and looking at a series of my very Last Photos.....grim thoughts....
So....putting my safety first, I remembered that I had heard that black bears are not aggressive and often times, just shouting at them will drive them away. So that....is exactly what I did....HEY BEAR....HEY....HEY....!!! With one quick look, the bear turned and ran into the woods...probably to do what bears do in the woods....! This is a true story.....

Camera....but stay inside and shoot through the window!!!

Definitely. We had feeders inside a 6' fence, and the bear climbed over it to get at them. No more feeders here.

Iā€™d grab the camera, walk up to the Bear, offer him some cold hard cash and get him to do some typical National Geographic poses of course!

If you observed a 300+lb black bear 10' outside your window in your backyard tearing up bird feeders, would you grab your pellet rifle or your camera to shoot him? I am so disappointed.........šŸ˜Ÿ

I would first call the animal control on my speed dial, then, I would take my 2 45 side arms and hand one to my wife who would accompany me and be my 6, then I would video the bear with my phone in my left hand, photograph him with my D500 with 200-500 with my right hand while maintaining control of the 45 with my left foot with my toes securely around the trigger and then boldly go when no man has gone before.

And that is how aliens are spying on us now. Making themselves appear to be animals so they can sneak up on us and learn our ways without being detected. NICE PHOTO.

Really? A wild bear in your back yard and your going to be feet away from it with just your Canon, did you know they can run up to 35 miles an hour. And you have a Canon and that's all. Your kidding right, you wouldn't really go out into an yard with a wild bear and just a camera would you? Well, there is the smart and there is the dumb. The good news is that you would only have to do it once, cause their would not be a next time, well, maybe for your Canon if one of the relatives wants it after the funeral. You are kidding right? Please say your kidding. Even though I do not shoot Canon, I wish you no harm. I have extensive experience photographing wildlife and one thing I have learned is that wildlife is wild.

Why didn't you bring the feeders in at night if you live with bears? We do, and with Mountain Lions, Moose and others. And the camera is always ready. I haven't taken my rifle out of its case in years....

Mmm, guess you missed the part where I do routinely bring them in, but forgot that night.....
