Beautiful photo. Thanks for what you do. We raise race horses and have a few babies every year. But my favorites on the farm are the retired geldings and mares
that will be here as along as we are here. They have about 25 acres with lots of grass, a constant supply of hay, a good fresh water source, a nice run-in and some trees
for shade. We visit them and give them treats every afternoon year-round. Talking to them is usually the best part of our day.

This is great work. I know how difficult it is to take good photos of horses inside barns because of lighting difficulties. Congrats on this shot.

In 2015 I got the chance to tour RVR Horse Rescue in Riverview, Florida. Soooo many wonderful volunteers work night and day to keep this rescue going. They take in the worst of the worst... horses and donkeys, even dogs and cats, that are near death.

This is Whisky... brought in unable to walk and a virtual skeleton due to years of abuse and neglect.

He was almost euthanized on the spot at RVR to end his suffering in a compassionate way, but a dedicated volunteer there saw a glimmer of life in his eyes, and took on 24 hour care with him. He almost gave up, many times, but with love, attention, and appropriate medication and food, he did slowly recover. His recovery took over a year, and was not a straight line up to health. He had many set backs.

Here he is today— A strapping, loving, gorgeous horse!

I was so struck by his story— I hope my portrait serves to show the public what goes on behind closed doors.

Much of my art sales I donate to animal rescue groups. I also dontate my paintings and other works of art (I work in a variety of mediums) to many different animal rescue organizations across the USA for their silent auctions.

God Bless You. Having grown up on a farm I have always had a special love for animals .I was taught that we are their stewards and we need to take care of them. I think animals are better than people... but you come close

Thank you... yes, the lighting was difficult! LOL it was the middle of summer in Florida and I arrived at noon, so I was either dealing with very bright sun, or dark shade inside the stalls...

Well, that’s awesome that you keep them! many racehorses are sent to slaughter after they are no longer of use—

I think it is a very good portrait. Personally i would like a little less processing but being as i dont do that yet my opinion isnt worth much.

funny , but we never mention the guilty party that did that to that horse , 100 lashes in my world would take care of that .
