I think they're too soft at long lens settings. The exceptions are the Lumix FZ200, FZ300 and (my favorite) the Olympus Stylus 1s. Also, I just order the Sony RX100-V! whose lens extends to 200mm. The other Sony and Lumix superzooms are just too bulky and heavy for me.

I recently bought this camera. It seems t be a decent camera, but i am disappointed with the quality of the photos on high zoom. Could be me, but im still trying to figure that out.

Looking to buy a long zoom, pocket size point & shoot with a view finder. Any opinions on the Lumix ZS series? Thnx for any replies. UHH is my 'go to' place for opinions.

I used to own a Lumix ZS50 point&shoot (P&S) camera. Got it on sale at Costco about 5 years ago. Took it on a couple trips without problem. For being a pocket size, lightweight, and reasonably priced, it produced very good pictures. I was impressed. Gave it to my sister. She took it to Holy Land and came back with really nice pictures. I know by history she is bad with taking pictures. She thinks she is getting better. I think it's the camera with some Divine intervention. But, she doesn't care. I have updated to ZS70 on the ZS series but I think the top level is ZS100. Here are a couple of sample pictures from the Lumix ZS50: 1) Eiffel Tower, 2) The Louvre, 3) Claude Monet's Garden towards his house (cloudy), 4) A Windmill in Amsterdam (cloudy), and 5) Versailles Garden (all beauty as far as the eyes can see). I think you'll love one of the Lumix ZS. Good luck and take some good pictures.

My wife has a ZS100. It his her primary, travel, family and artistic camera. Her PP software is Corel Paintshop Pro.

My cameras cost a lot more, are bigger and I use Lightroom and Photoshop.

The prints she hangs on the wall from our trips and events are usually better than mine. It kills me, but I still love her.

Have you tried standing next to her, and seeing/shooting the same thing?
Are hers still better? At least you're burning more calories toting the heavier gear.

I have the ZS60 as my "purse" camera. Have really been using it more than my Pentax K50 DSLR.

Many cameras were mentioned in the responses prior to yours and you say you recently bought this camera. Are we supposed to guess which camera you are referring to?

A lot has been said regarding the Lumix ZS100. I wonder about the ZS200. Is it worth the extra $250.00 for the extra110mm of zoom and bigger and brighter EVF? Or is the ZS100 demonstrably better. Not much as been said about the ZS200, so it's got me wondering. I've read a number of online reviews, but it's always good to hear from actual owners and read their impressions and experiences.

Sometimes we see the same shot. She somehow will frame it better. I shoot RAW. She shoots a lot of auto JPEG. One camera she had, the Panasonic LF1, could be set to "Happy Color". I do Lightroom and Photoshop. She does Corel Paintshop Pro.

The truth is always what gets hung on the wall. She and I are living proof that a lot of the banter on UHH is not relevant at the final analysis of the printed image.

I had a Panasonic P&S Lumix Camera, it was very good to me, although limited compared to my Nikon D3300 DSLR with a variety of 4 lens. I would definitely recommend a quality Panasonic Lumix P&S Camera, to someone just getting started in Photography, it is a excellent place to start.

For what it is worth, Sky, I use both the ZS50 and ZS60 as my pocket Back Up Cameras. I am pleased with both of them.

Thanks to all for your input. I ordered a Lumix zs60. I have a few trips coming up and would like to enjoy 'hands free', so I hope this pocket size, long zoom, viewfinder
camera does the trick! We'll soon find out. Thnx again for your help.
