All great pictures. Saw the title and thought of you even before I saw it was posted by you. I think the lone picture of the surfboard is really outstanding. That one should be framed and you could sell it easily in California, help pay for your next purchase.

Thanks Jim for your thoughts and ideas on this series and in particular the surfboard shot. Sometimes things just fall into your lap, like that shot. I just happened to be at the perfect angle.

More fantastic photos Brent. I am curious, are you a surfer as well?

Thanks so much Dennis for your positive comments about these photos. YES! I am a surfer and have been one since jr high school. I don't surf like I used to though!

Nice stuff Bret. That little girl can really rip it. I remember the teen days when my next door neighbor had just gotten his license and had a van with two mattresses in the back. We would slide our boards between the mattresses, and me too before we got to the North entrance to the base. My friend knew a guy in the Marines and used his name to get us in. We would park at the officers club and surf both Lower's and Churches. The good news (selfishly) was that we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Later, once I got my license, I joined Sano. The better news was that the Marines eventually opened up that section of the coast so everyone could enjoy it. Nice shots and thanks for sharing. Brings back good memories.
Nice stuff Bret. That little girl can really rip ... (show quote)

Nalu, on the day I took these photos, Churches had very few surfers and the conditions were great. I guess everyone was at Lowers. You have some fond memories of some great surfing areas. SanO is still one of my favorites along with Middles. You are right about that little girl. She was shredding and will most likely be a pro someday. When you come out to this area look me up and we will go shoot the surfers together! Thanks for your input.

GREAT, GREAT SHOTS! I can't help but yell at you. I envy and appreciate what you do and some day would love to spend more time at the beach working on capturing some of these images myself. Thank you for your work.

WOW! Brent. What a beautiful set. I don't know where to start. #3 is a great story: What is happening to the surfer while his board is parked. #4 shows the board and the surfer taking a slightly different line. $5 is another great story: Look Look! And of course #6 seems to be the favorite for good reason. It is fantastic. In #7 the young surfer is hurrying to get back out, and in #8 and #10 she finds her ride. Great set. Click Click!

In Southern California there is a famous great surfing spot called Lower Tressles. It's located at the Southern end of San Clemente. When good sized waves hit this area, the word is out quickly and the beach scene is very active. Here are a few photos to document those good sized waves from June 11th of this year. It's amazing to me how young the surfers are that are excellent athletes. I'm talking about 13 year olds that shred!

Terrific group again Brent. I know you like 'street photography' and your 'beach photography' shots really give the group some depth to see what is happening on the beach while the action is happening. Those kids are fabulous athletes . . . must be the California sun shine and the taste of salt water eh?

Hi Brent, probably will not be your way soon in that we are moving to Arizona pretty soon. We will be coming over in our RV periodically and staying at the Dunes in Newport. I like to go up the Bolsa Chica to do birds, as you know, that's my thing and perhaps I'll shoot you a message when that happens. I guess surfing will always be important to me. I chose my name for this forum based on surfing. "Nalu" in Hawaiian means man of the water and considering I had a chocolate lab who loved the water, I named him Nalu as well. Happy shooting!
