I just heard about the Canon XPS printer.
It is suppose to let you print 16 bits of color instead of 8 bits.
I tried it but did not see any difference.
Maybe my output file only has 8 bit data.
Does anyone use this printer.
I use Picture Windows 7 as my photo editor
I use XPS in order not to lose any information from my (originally raw and post-processed in Lightroom) pictures.
From what I have read few Windows programs output 16 bit data. Canon's Print Studio Pro will output 16-bit data. I have compared Lightroom prints using the standard and XPS driver and a print using Canon Digital Photo Professional printed via Print Studio Pro. I also printed via macOS Lightroom which allows selecting 8-bit and 16-bit printing. I could see no difference.
But I saw no downside to using 16-bit printing, so I do.
Yes, I use the XPS print driver all the time. Yes, it won't do anything if your file is an 8-bit image. If you used Photoshop, and you have a file that was a raw image and you haven't saved it as a jpg you can use one of the large colorspaces like ProPhoto and the XPS print driver. Using Picture Windows 7 isn't going to make use of the XPS print capabilities. Just use the regular driver.
