Just get this camera as back up for my Nikon. I am working through the menus and so on now. Yesterday I stumbled on the article that Fuji has 2.0 filmware to download. How I would find what is in my camera?

Hi there - first of all it's called "firmware" - but yes, there is a recent update for the X-T20 which you can find here .....

http://www.fujifilm.com/support/digital_cameras/software/firmware/x/xt20/index.html

To find out the current firmware on your camera press "Back" on the camera body at the same time as switching on the camera. The current firmware will show on the screen.

One of Fuji's major selling points is the fact that they offer on-going updates for their cameras (up to a point !) and it's advised to keep your camera as up-to-date as is possible, for camera and lenses, in order to get best performance.

The website gives you good instruction as to how to download and install firmware for your camera. Just read the steps and understand them before doing it .... it can be a little intimidating for new users at first !

Fujifilm firmware is beyond excellent. It has allowed me to avoid upgrade purchases because before a new model comes out, firmware often has the preceding model matched to the next upgrade.

One example is that those looking for the Fujifilm X-E2s are only paying more money for an X-E2 with all the firmware updates to either 4.10 (or 4.11).

The X-E2 really has NO substantial feature advantage over the X-E2, yet is selling for more money. I am currently using An X-E2 with latest firmware and see not advantage to change up until I get the 24MP XT20, or the new budget 24mp Bayer XT100 at $699 w/new focal length zoom.

If it weren't for the 24MP, I'd probably still keep shooting the latest firmware X-E2. The next most aggressive firmware update MFR is Olympus in my experience. My second choice MFR.

assir, I did the same thing. I got the Fujifilm X-T20 as a backup and walk-around camera to compliment my Nikon D810. I enjoy it and I carry them both at the same time. The firmware update is quite easy, simply download it from the Fujifilm website and copy it to a formated SD card and insert it into the camera. Follow the instructions and you are done.

Maybe. I basically got mine for the cost of the lens. But I d agree: other camera makers release a new model; Fuji does a firmware upgrade which is free. They know customer service.

Hi craggy; always good to see you weigh it on these topics. The most recent firmware update on my little X-E2IV was done by a Fujifilm factory rep, at a camera show. He told me that even though I might not need the latest, for my specific purposes; it's still always good to do so, as there are often some small, yet important, changes included, that the engineers have not listed on the Fujifilm website.

Thanks my friend. I'm waiting for the "re-vamped" version 4 upgrade for the X-T2. To all intents and purposes it's due "mid-June" .... should be this coming week. Let's hope they've ironed out the problems ! Nice thing is that problems came to light, from users, Fuji listened, retracted the firmware upgrade, and will put it right quickly. That's customer service all right !
