Hi Everyone ,
Always enjoy looking at various posts on here.
Can anyone help please on this issue I have .
Using photoshop CS5 .. after i do what I have to do I then
file the image with Save as, then to correct Folder ..
This works fine ..but if I do another directly after and save to same folder then I have
to go through the computer and find the folder and save it ..
Sometimes it automatically open up the previous folder so make it much easier ..
Why does it not do this every time ? Is there a setting I can use to make it happen ?
Im using Windows 7

Hi - I don't use PS, but PhotoFlitre, for one, will automatically save to the last folder I saved in. If I forget to pick a folder then I have to go hunting for which folder that was - the easiest way to find it is to go through the process of saving another file, making sure that I make a note of the folder it wants to put it to.

I use LR more than PS, and when I save the first picture, I select the folder in a big window with other choices. It remembers that and keeps going back to it for each additional save.e LR window is below,

When you did "save as" did you choose desk top as where you wanted to save folder.

Why are you using save as? If you you save it goes to the folder you used to open the file.

because it started as a Raw file .. then save with save as to a specific folder ..
EG .. if one takes picks of a red car and one has a red car folder then thats the destination !
If Im taking many red car shots then I dont want to have to find the red car folder on D drive every time
i process the image... I would like the correct folder to open automatically after the first one .

If you are saving the file from a removable disk (SD card etc.), unfortunately, you will always have to find the folder you want to save in with each save. A good way around that is to import (drag and drop) all the images you'll be working on into the folder you will be saving them to and then you will be able to just save after working on them, without having to find the folder each time.

I use PS CC 2018. I've tried several scenarios using new/old files, save/save as, starting/restarting PS and PS always starts out with the last directory it used, unless the thumb/external was disconnected. Try going to "Edit/Preferences/File Handling" and check your settings.
You can always recreate the preference files. To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"

Check your settings in photoshop. There is an option to save to original folder or last folder used, etc.

When you are using "save as" PS thinks you are saving as a new version on the original file, so it tries to go back there. When you go to a different image it still thinks that and starts over again.
