I realize these things mentioned are ancillary to photography, but then so are batteries.

I think these things are great because it allows more people with minimum experience to take nice photos and create memories that they cherish and can be proud of without getting bogged down in all the technical techniques. It's a throwback to instamatic cameras, only better. I personally enjoy all the technical "stuff" associated with producing nice photographs, but I am glad so many more people can get pleasing results and just concentrate on their kids, dogs, or whatever else they are photographing.
