The Workhorse Of The U.S. Air Force
the Lockheed C-130 Hercules
I took a hop in one of those from Offutt AFB to Oahu. Had to sit in a webbed seat and froze my butt off. But for free? Well worth it!
Nice shot.

Nice shot.
Thank you very much, Charlie'smom; that was quite the ride.

Rob, I totally agree. The history of this aircraft is amazing.

I rode in a few when I was in Iran 1969-1971. Noisy birds!
(duplicate--delayed response on first)
Very nice capture. Good job.

Very, very nice Rob, great composition and such a clean bird....they must have just recently washed it...
And yes its truly a work horse and with new USAF contracts, its scheduled to be in service for an amazingly......100 years
I was privileged to fly several models of the C-130 Hercules during my U.S.Air Force career (tactical airlift version, the rescue version and special operations version). In the latter two, we were able to refuel helicopters while airborne. None were designed for passenger comfort. Ear plugs or ear muffs we always a good idea. Sometimes a blanket helped. There was no "indoor plumbing" in any of the models that I flew, so it was smart to plan ahead! The new "J-model C-130" does have rest room facilities (the main reason is because there are so many female crew members now---thanks ladies).
Great shot Rob, my favorite transport aircraft.
