Been a while since I've posted. A computer crash, a family emergency. And when I tried to create a new topic in the photo gallery UHH wanted me to introduce myself. So howdy, I'm SWFeral, been here since summer of 2012, yada yada. I complain a lot about drought and fires. I also do a lot of risky hikes.
But now I want to re-introduce my superlative friend Ted, the puppy I found waiting for me on the highway back in February of 2007. He's a piece of work but always a fabulous hiking partner, even though he doesn't understand why we ever have to leave the house and go on needlessly challenging hikes. A mix of herding breeds and possibly coyote, he is an excellent watcher-over of me. Sometimes this comes in the form of walking into my framed photos to stare at me questioningly--but his handsomeness nearly always makes the photos better, even if they miss the main point.
We are in lion country and I've captured a few on my trail cam within spitting distance of these shots. Ted is likely aware of their proximity, and he always watches out for my safety. As I do for his.

Beautiful boy!! And what a great model. I hope you "pay" him well for his services.
Very nice. May I ask where these were taken,(general vicinity).

Well I paid him pretty well by scooping the rascal up from the side of a highway when he was a tiny puppy, over 11 years ago. But yes, I'd say he has a pretty good life. As I type this Ted's taking up most of my bed, eating crackers.

Just off Hwy 152 that runs through the Black Range, about 35 miles east of Silver City, same state as you. Thank you for viewing them.
Cherish him, he's the best friend you'll ever have.

Love the images-the last particularly.
It doesn't get much better than being out with your dog and a camera in hand.

I've cherished him for more than 11 years, and I believe the feeling's mutual. Thank you for your comment.

Thanks. I like that one too--his Rin Tin Tin look.

You put that so well, and I couldn't agree more. Until we get some rain my hikes will be more tame--it's just too hot and parched out there now.
