Is the tripod mount on the Sigma 150-600 contemporary compatible with arca-swiss design, and if not, what is the recommended solution?

Looking at pictures of it and it does not look like it has an A-S mount.
Easy fix, just buy a 6" A-S plate and mount it on the foot.

Thanks, but I was wondering if people were replacing the collar as well.

If you could find the correct collar size, it would be a very expensive alternative. I have the Sig 150-600, with a 10" plate mounted to the foot, and it works wonderfully. Simple is best.

Looking at the web site, it does not look like there are mounting flanges for ARCA, but it might just lock into a ball head plate. Why don't you call them and ask?

No need, and probably difficult to impossible to find.
I have several lenses that the foot is not A-S and I just attach an A-S plate to them.

Search for a replacement foot for this lens. A quick search produced this result:

https://www.amazon.com/SUNWAYFOTO-LF-M1-Replacement-50-600mm-150mm-600mm/dp/B019YNABYI

Which should fit both the Sports and Contemporary.

I have replaced the feet on every lens I could with an Arca compatible foot.

If you do, get one longer than the lens foot for proper support.

$60 for a new foot $13 for an A-S plate.
The advantage of the new foot is it would not rotate on the mounting screw like a plate can.
I get around that issue by drilling and tapping a second hole in the foot.

Just get a 6 inch Arca Swiss Plate and you are all set.$48 and you are ready for a secure place.

That's a ridiculous price for a A-S plate.
Look at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_7?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=150mm+arca+swiss&sprefix=150mm+a%2Caps%2C158&crid=1W4V5IY0BP3E0

I concur with this. The Sunway is a great fit, and they provide replacement Allen bolts, and it drops directly onto your tripod.
This solution is also very carryable (I tend to carry lenses by the foot, and the two play (existing plus bolt on) is less easy on the hands.

But why the hell Sigma couldn't have done this in the first place completely defies me!

Why would you replace the collar?
Just add the Swiss Acra plate, I suggest a 6" plate. And use two screws when attaching to the lens.

IMO, all the tripod collars on 150-600's are very compromised from a critical performance point of view.

Using one of these - https://www.ebay.com/itm/220mm-Y-ty-Telephoto-Lens-Support-Clamp-for-Arca-Hejnar-Benro-Fluid-Video-Head/172143858639?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

is attempt to fix the inadequacies of these tripod mounts. Or, RRS makes a version of this for 3X the price if you are so inclined.

I have the 150-600 contemporary and purchased the Hoage 120mm QR plate for Arca Swiss from Amazon for $12. Works fine, secure. Quit making it hard and move on.
