Great Blue Heron on the retention pond in our backyard, Wesley Chapel, Florida. You don't see them swimming often. They usually wade and fish.

My eye is drawn first to the strong yellow-green of the background. I would be interested in seeing that area adjusted so that it doesn't compete with your very cool subject. If you like the look of the bright green, perhaps just a little trim off the top to remove the brown? That will reduce the clutter and additional colors.

Hi, Brett,
I agree; that is a most unusual capture of a gbh. I checked my archives have not one image of a gbh in swimm8ng mode!

I think Linda’s suggestion about mitigating the distractive influence of the bright green area above the heron has merit.

Thanks all
I was wondering about the bright green and even the brown area. I may crop the brown out. Toning down the highlight and vibrance on the bright green would be easy enough.

For what it’s worth I have seen similar poses when GBH was wading out to bathe.

Pretty deep water in this case, but would be a cool view when wading.

The toning down of the green is much better Brett, nice image.

I, too, think you should try that.
